I earned the medical degree from Menoufia Faculty of Medicine in 2002, I pursued further specialization and was honored with a clinical master’s degree in Psychiatry and Neurology from Alexandria University in 2011. In 2022, I achieved the Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPSych) in London, marking a significant milestone in my professional journey. Additionally, I am a member of the International Society of ECT and Neurostimulation. Currently serving as a consultant psychiatrist for mental health in older adults and the lead consultant of the ECT and Neurostimulation department at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital- Dubai. My clinical interests lie at the intersection of psychiatry and physical health, addressing the complex challenges that arise in managing patients with both psychiatric and physical health issues. Beyond clinical practice, I am actively engaged in medical education, research, and the development of healthcare policies, contributing to the advancement of psychiatric care.

He held many senior positions in Hamad medical corporation and was the director of psychiatry old age fellowship program and Psychiatry residency program for many years. Currently he is the director of older adult’s psychiatry service in HMC and leading the development and expansion of psychiatry services in Qatar for older adults. He was involved in writing Qatar National dementia guidelines, HMC dementia guidelines and Qatar national dementia plan in collaboration with other stakeholders. He is interested in teaching and education and presented in many local international conferences. His main research interest is in the field of neurocognitive disorders and closely works with Cambridge and Peterborough mental health trust to improve psychiatric care to elderlies and increase research activities of the team. Dr Al-Salihy and a long experience in medical education and has been involved in developing curriculums, bedside teaching and giving lectures to university students, psychiatry residents and clinical fellows in the UK, Qatar and Iraq. He is a fellow of Royal college of Psychiatrist in the UK and works with the colleague for developing old age psychiatry service and teaching programs in the middle east.
